“Theatre is a writer’s and actor’s medium. That’s not to say that directors and designers aren’t important in the process. But the audience must be sustained by the words and actions they see for 2-4 hours of a play. The actors don’t ever stop and must take the character and audience through a whole arc. That’s all on the actor and the writer’s words sustain them. There’s no place to hide on stage. No going back. No safety net. You must know the material intimately. Theatre is where you see who can really act in a marathon setting”. - Lance Nichols .
