Noted Award Winning Director, Miss Tommye Myrick, has managed to very elegantly morph unsuspecting New Orleans audiences back in time with her presentation of the stage
play/musical “LADY DAY at Emerson’s Bar & Grill”. The island-vibes at Gentilly’s The Juju Bag Cafe serves as picturesque backdrop while the wind blows in your hair, tiki torches set themood, and the smell of mom’s home cooking fills the air. Just when you are enveloped in the ambience, Miss Sharon Martin takes the stage for a split second and then she disappears with the wind. Miss Billie Holiday comes alive! She captures, craves, and demands your attention for the remainder of the show. She is at home at Emerson’s and wants to welcome you, her friends, into the deeper, more philosophical,well-meaning, honest, yet complex person behind the public persona. Lady Day has a lot to say and sometimes she lets her liquor do the talking for
her. Audiences are in for a great ride! So, buckle your seat belts and head on over to Emerson’s…Oops… we meant THE JUJU BAG CAFE! The show runs weekends through May
13th.
